Trauma Informed Care
Not all trauma is caused by a single event. Many people experience emotional abuse in childhood or as adults, in intimate relationships. Over time, this trauma affects your identity, boundaries, and self-worth.
I have personally done the hard work of healing from childhood adversity and relational harm. Because of this, I understand how difficult it is to work on these issues. I approach my clients with empathy, and a deep respect for what it takes to face this kind of healing.
I work with people who have struggled with feeling unseen, criticized, controlled, or emotionally unsafe — and who want to work to rebuild their lives.
I help people work through the experiences and effects of childhood and relationship trauma, including:
-
Long-term childhood invalidation
-
Emotional and psychological abuse
-
Abusive relationships (coercive control and narcissistic abuse)
-
Chronic relational trauma
-
Loss of identity
-
Deep, persistent shame
-
A harsh inner critic
-
Hypervigilance
-
People-pleasing
-
Emotional shutdown
-
Difficulty trusting themselves
Many of struggles go by unnoticed, but internally, they can cause long-term damage to your self-esteem, boundaries, and nervous system regulation.
Much of our work may focus on:
-
Understanding your trauma responses
-
Rebuilding self-esteem after relational trauma
-
Learning self-validation
-
Strengthening boundaries
-
Restoring self-trust
My approach is trauma-informed, empathetic, and relational, and I work at a pace your nervous system can tolerate. I focus on rebuilding self-trust, strengthening boundaries, and helping you understand your trauma responses and coping mechanisms without shame.
